About Your IEP Source
Better Outcomes Start Here
Every Child Deserves the Right Support
Your IEP Source was founded with a single goal — making special education easier to navigate for all parties so every student can get the support they need.
We provide strategic guidance, coaching, and consulting to help everyone who touches special education work together to support those who need it most—the students.
Because we understand clinical diagnoses and how they translate to school services, we provide the clarity and guidance needed where breakdowns often occur—ensuring wins for everyone and helping students get the support they need with the resources available.
“Dr. Brandi helped us interact with the school in a constructive manner. Most importantly, our child has seen improvements in the areas needing improvement.”
— J.M., parent of elementary school child
We Simplify a Complex Process
Navigating the special education system can feel overwhelming and frustrating for families who simply want to see their child thrive.
Most educators and schools want the same thing—but the tough reality is that systemic issues can make it hard for every student to gain access to the services they need.
We make sure you aren’t in it alone, helping:
Families understand their child’s rights and confidently navigate IEP meetings.
Schools & Legal Teams provide the right support while ensuring compliance.
IEP Advocates grow sustainable businesses with smart strategies and effective systems.
MEET OUR FOUNDER
Dr. Brandi Tanner, Ph.D., NCSP
Dr. Brandi Tanner has sat in every seat at the IEP Table, including as a:
General education teacher
Special education teacher
School psychologist
Private psychologist
Advocate
Family member
A Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) and former special educator Dr. Brandi Tanner has been part of hundreds of IEP meetings— as a family member, special educator, school psychologist, private practice psychologist, and, most recently, as an advocate.
Her unique perspective allows her to bridge the gap between families, schools, and professionals, ensuring that students get the support they need.
Every child deserves an education that meets their needs—and families shouldn’t have to fight alone to make it happen.
A Personal and Professional Commitment to Special Education
Dr. Brandi’s journey into special education advocacy started long before she became a professional.
As a teenager, she watched her parents fight for the right services for her brother with autism—and saw firsthand the frustration, the obstacles, and the tears along the way.
That experience shaped her belief that every child deserves an education that meets their needs—and that families shouldn’t have to fight alone to make it happen.
From Educator to Advocate
Determined to be part of the solution, Dr. Brandi pursued a career in special education and psychology to help families navigate a system that often feels impossible to understand.
She started as a special education teacher, working directly with students and families. But she wanted to go beyond academics—so she earned her Ph.D. in School Psychology to become a school psychologist, helping families secure the services their children needed. From there, she went into private practice, opening the doors to Lightway Psychological Services.
She supported hundreds of families—but despite the successes, she knew there had to be a better way to draw on her clinical knowledge and skills as a psychologist and in-depth knowledge of the education system to help even more students thrive.
Your IEP Source was founded with a single goal—making special education easier to navigate so every student gets the support they need.
Your IEP Source is Where Advocacy and Support Meet
After years of working inside the system, Dr. Brandi saw the same frustrating pattern—families overwhelmed, educators stretched thin, and students slipping through the cracks.
She knew that real change wouldn’t come from working within one school at a time. Families, advocates, and professionals needed better tools, clearer guidance, and a true partner in the process.
That’s why she founded Your IEP Source—to make special education advocacy more accessible, collaborative, and effective.
Now, through coaching, consulting, and training, she helps families, advocates, and professionals work together so that every student gets the support they deserve.
In 2025, Brandi was selected for the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business program, where she’s enhancing her business skills to better serve her clients and help other advocates make an even bigger impact.
